The Underwater Swimmers

Lindsey loves the humpback whale picture. She goes on the National Geographic website a lot. When she does she always listens to the whale's songs.

She even has her little sister loving the songs. They sit together in front of the computer just gazing into the screen.

The picture of the turtle with the fishes is a surprise for you Lindsey. This picture was emailed to me. I think the fishes are so pretty.

Scary Animal

Whoa, the picture is so tiny. This is a lemon shark. All sharks scare me. Ever since I saw "JAWS" That is a movie Lindsey will not see until she is 18! Though, for a while there, I was obsessed with sharks.Lindsey signature

Niabi Zoo VII

This was the first time we saw a peacock up close. It was so pretty. To bad it wouldn't open it's wings for us. That would have been magnificient!

The Bald Eagle looked show majestic perched on the branch.

I really liked this zoo. It had animals that wasn't in our hometown zoo.

Again, this zoo is located outside Moline, IL. Close to the Mississippi River.

Niabi Zoo V

The bird picture, I think is a macaw. I could be wrong and it could be just a parrot.

This zoo had alot of giraffes. At the Detroit Zoo, I think I only would see two giraffes. Of course it has been a few years, so maybe I just forgot and they really had more giraffes.

I love having a digital camera. I am able to take nice close up pictures of the animals.

Niabi IV

Some more pictures from the Ziabi Zoo. It is a goat. They had a farm at the zoo. Lindsey wanted to stay and look more at the farm, but Michaela hated it. She said it had a bad smell.

The Indiana Jones Widget

Lindsey is crazy about the Indiana Jones movies. She has the Indiana Jones Lego XBOX 360 game. Plays it all the time.

Niabi Zoo III

Here are more pictures of the monkey looking animal. I think I got carried away.

Niabi Zoo II

Here is another picture of the monkeyish kind of animal. I am sure if I gave Lindsey time, she would research and tell me the correct name of this mammal.

For now it is a monkeyish kind of animal.

He He.

Niabi Zoo

Moline, Illinois was one of the areas hit hard by the midwest floods. Our hotel was elevated so we had nothing to worry about, but you could see the sandbags around some buildings. Our hotel was right off the Mississippi River

In the middle of June, we went to Illinois, for Daddy's work convention. After his meetings were over with, we went to the Niabi Zoo near Moline. It was a little warm and the sun was blazing. The next couple of post will be pictures from the zoo.

A Cutie and an Ewwwww

The picture to the right is a red fox. Campared to the rat, this animal is kind of cute. Though I still would not bring it home.
I could not believe Lindsey wanted this picture on her blog. Rats. Ew, these creatures gross me out, YUCK!! She knows I do not like rodents. She also knows she is to stay away from them and all wild animals. I hope she listens to me.

Lindsey's Turkey Art and Napping With Sidney

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Lindsey wanted me to put on her blog a picture of her on the couch with Sidney. Lindsey was about 5 to 6 months old. The two of them were napping. Isn't it sweet?

I am finally posting a fine artwork of Lindsey's. This is a drawing of a hunter with a bow and arrow aimed at a turkey. That is Lindsey's Turkey Art. What a girl!! she even signed it, just like an artist.

Two Different Species

On the right is a picture of yak. Lindsey did not say much about this animal. On the left is a picture of a hawk. As I said before she is always pointing out big birds in the sky.

The Water Animals

This is the American alligator. Lindsey did not say much about this animal.
Now, the seahorse, Lindsey and I both raved about this animal. Lindsey thought it was so cute. I thought it was cute as well. Until my late teens, I thought the seahorse was a mythic creature. Around that time, I happened to see some in an aquarium. Wow, imagine that, they really do exist.

Two Action Animal

This animal is the impala. Lindsey said that this animal can jump as high as a basketball hoop. They live in the savannah with the gazelles.

To the right is the puma. Lindsey thinks this animal is cute. It is beautiful, but that could be because of the snow. It makes the puma so pure.

Lindsey told me, that I made a mistake regarding the last post. The mouse in her school is called Scruffles. Sorry about that Lindsey:)

Mortal Enemies

Lindsey says there is a mouse in her school. They call the mouse Stuart and it is white. HhhMmmm. She has been reading "Stuart Little".
She asked me, if I like mice and I told her no. She, of course, being the animal lover, thinks they are cute. I remember being a kid and always having issues with mice. In the 1990's Lindsey's Grandma, Omi, had all the holes to the house plug, so there were no longer any issues. One fall we had a rat problem, because of the people who has lived on the next street. They had firewood piled up behind their garage, which led to the rats all around the neighborhood. Ever since then, in Roseville, you have to keep your firewood off the ground by so many inches. Rodents.....ewwwww!
Now cats used to be my favorite. Until, my sister's cat, Meijer, scratched my face. I had picked her up. She started squirming so I was about to put her down and she flip over and scratched me! No longer like cats.
But, cats help reduce the rodent population.

A Possible Meany And A Sweetie

This is an African wild dog. Lindsey thinks this animal is cute. This animal reminds me of a dingo. If you remember an old post, I hate dingos.

To the left is an maned wolf. Lindsey is just crazy about maned wolves. She did a school project where they had to discuss certain animals and 5 objects in their habitat. She used a poster board. She met all the criteria and did well. She heard of the maned wolf through "Go, Diego, Go". The episode was about Diego trying to find a puppy for a maned wolf mommy.

Furry And Scaly

Here is Mai Xiang, the panda bear. I think he might be famous. I do not know. When Lindsey showed me the picture, the panda had a name. The other picture is a lizard running on water. It is amazing, it can walk on water. Must be because he is moving fast and he is so light.

The Hunters

The Bald Eagle. Our nation's national treasure. Lindsey likes to point out big birds in the sky. We actually had a hawk circling us last month, while we were waiting for Daddy as he was in 7/Eleven. The thing was, we were in the car, so what was he going to do to us?

This is the Asian lion. She didn't really say much about this animal except to remind me to put Asian lion.

A Big Animal And An Old Animal

The African elephant. Lindsey thought it was funny that the political parties trademarks are animals. She kept asking people which animal did they vote for in the election. She is such a hoot when it comes to animals.

The tortoise can live up to 150 years old. A few year ago, there was a tortoise that had died that was aboard the HMS Beagle during the Crimean War. Those animals are just amazing.

Animals From Opposite Sides Of The World

Lindsey looked at this picture and said she wanted the artic fox on her blog. She made sure I knew it was not a wolf. Yes sweetie, I know.

This is not Merkat Manor. Oh, I love that show. I was so sad when Flower died and then the following week, Mozart, died as well. My daughter every now and then wants to watch that show, but I tell her that there is violence between merkats and some of them die. I don't think it would bother her. She seems to know that is the nature of things. I was bothered when those two had died.

The Little Creatures

Lindsey thinks skunks are cute. The baby ones are cute. Just look at them, they are adorable. The adult ones, ew. A few years ago, we had a skunk spray our dog, Sidney, at night. That was not a fun experience. I gave that dog, I don't know how many baths. The house stank forever. We were trying to see the house at the time. It is a miracle we sold that house.

Lindsey loves feeding the chipmunks when we visit her grandparent's cottage. She and her sister, Michaela, every morning, will bring out nuts for the chipmunks. As soon as they leave, the chipmunks come out scammering for the nuts.

This is the nile crocodile. I don't recalled Lindsey saying much about this animals, except that she wanted it on her blog.

Lindsey had asked that some water animals be shown. She wanted to know if killer whales actually go after humans and kill them, and I told her I did not think killer whales went after humans. They kill just like all other creatures. What ever they see, they take. Yet, I would be scared if either animals were sharing my watering hole.
